It was a typical morning...
we were late... as usual!
I was running from one side
of the house to the other,
frantically putting things where they belonged.
Packing up the little one and a quick snack
for me, just in case I actually had time to eat lunch today.
I took just two quick seconds,
to run and get my shoes from the back
of my closet.
I swear, it was the hundredth trip that morning.
Then I heard music.
I came to swoop up the little guy
and head out the door,
when I see the 'band' playing
in the living room.
"Mamma, Play"
As he hands me a horn from his music set.
He's playing his new maracas that Uncle
just brought back from Mexico.
Jeremy's playing a tambourine.
And they are both smiling and dancing.
He says "1...2..."
and begins to play again.
We follow.
We start a morning jam session,
laughing,
smiling,
dancing,
together.
For a split second all of the other things
that need to be done were out of my mind.
Who cares we were late.
We were making memories!

I love how you stopped and joined it! You will never remember you were late. You will always remember playing with the band!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much! I am glad that I stopped and joined in as well. It was a fun way of putting a smile on my face before we left for work!
DeleteYes! You will remember this forever. This would be a great slice to develop into something bigger.
ReplyDeleteAwe, thanks Jen! I'd love to get your advice on some ways to develop this!!!
